Information, Referral, and Assistance assesses the needs of the inquirer, evaluates appropriate resources, assesses appropriate response modes, indicates organizations capable of meeting the inquirer's needs, provides enough information about each organization to help the inquirer make informed decisions, assists inquirers for whom services are unavailable by locating alternative resources then actively linking the inquirer to the needed service, and, lastly, following up on referrals to ensure the service(s) was provided.

Information, Referral and Assistance provides senior citizens and their family caregivers with:

• Direction

• Linkage

to appropriate community resources, programs and services. Our Area Agency on Aging, Aging and Disability Resource Center, and 211 Texas Staff advocate for services on behalf of senior citizens when the need is indicated.
